The establishment of the Friends of the Municipality of Salt Association was brought about in response to decision number 27988/828/30 made by the Minister of Internal Affairs in the year 2002; and also in response to the popular demand of the people of Salt, who in turn wrote up the rules governing the entity.

The goals of the Association are as follows:-

1 To provide support and consultancy for the Municipality of Salt.
2 To organize national campaigns for the citizens, and to preserve the cleanness and beauty of the city.
3 To encourage citizens to join the neighborhood committees for the purpose of facilitating services for the citizens in all righteousness.
4 To organize lectures, seminars, festivals and exhibitions.
5 To preserve the cultural and architectural heritage.
6 To support the problems that face the citizens and to find way to resolve them.
7 To take care of the environment and to preserve it.
8 To find new views to strengthen the principles derived from religious principles and Arabic culture and to force out the negative habits.
9 To publish educational and periodical publications.

The Association has contributed alongside the Municipality in several social activates that involve:-

9 The conducting of meetings with the president of the Municipality and his administrative staff, and neighborhood committees.
10 To establish a day dedicated to healthcare held for the benefit of citizens in the premises of the Municipality and to provide medicine free of charge for them.
11 To organize an astrological evening held in support for of the Association of Jordanian Astrologists.
12 To contribute towards the distribution of free meals during the month of Ramadan.
